The book tells the story of the Mexican Revolution, describes its main phases, and discusses its political, military, economic, social, and cultural consequences. Historical and quasi-mythical personalities - including Emiliano Zapata, Pancho Villa, Francisco Madero, Venustiano Carranza, and lvaro Obregn - punctuate a collective history that reflects the plurality of cultures in a country that engaged in the first great revolution and civil war of the 20th century. The Mexican Revolution was destined to produce a great number of political, symbolic, and even identitary constructs.
