REGISTERFor over half a century Adolf Hitler has never ceased to attract the attention of historians and the interest, sometimes bordering on the morbid, of the general public. There is no doubt, of course, that Hitler is the historic personality who through his actions has most influenced, in a negative way, the course of events in Europe and in the world during the 20th century. There are many important texts concerning Hitler's life, including Fest's biography and Kershaw's massive work. Corni's text is a balanced and up-to-date account that makes the most of recent research on the Führer's life and deeds and on the Nazi state, emphasising interpretive issues that historians' efforts have brought to the fore.
Gustavo Corni teaches Contemporary History at the University of Trento.
